Kwame Williams: SIGMA Success Story
Congratulations to Assistant Branch Manager, Midwest Region (Sauk Village), Kwame Williams on 20 years at SIGMA. Kwame joined the SIGMA Midwest Region as a forklift driver in 2006, and through hard work, diligence, a relentless focus on service, and prioritizing the customer every day, he has risen up through the ranks to his current position of Assistant Branch Manager.
Joe Webb, Vice President of Sales, comments on Kwame’s success, “Kwame always goes the extra mile, is eager to learn, and his successful career is a testament to the great job he has done for us. I am so proud of the work Kwame does for us and am grateful for his impeccable work ethic.”
Kwame’s dedication was on full display last winter when a water main broke in Skokie, IL during a major snowstorm. The break left 65,000 people without fresh water amid massive flooding, which, due to the freezing temperatures, froze into solid ice. Kwame received a pre-dawn phone call requesting help and he immediately sprung into action. He shoveled out his car, drove to the SIGMA warehouse, shoveled a path to the warehouse, loaded the replacement products onto the forklift, and had the order ready when the truck arrived at 7:30am. He comments, “Working in the waterworks industry, we know that if something goes wrong it’s a really big problem—it’s water! So, we do whatever is needed, especially in an emergency, to help our customers. There’s a lot of competition in the market and at SIGMA we set ourselves apart by going the extra mile.”
Charlie Kyle, Midwest Branch Manager adds, “Kwame has done an amazing job at every level—starting in the warehouse and moving into insides sales, then operations manager and ultimately to assistant branch manager. He knows all aspects of our business and as a result is a fantastic member of our Midwest management team.”
