SIGMA Welcomes Steven Kristensen, Regional Sales Manager
SIGMA extends a warm welcome to Steven Kristensen, Regional Sales Manager for the Northeast Region. He will oversee sales, provide sales support, strategic planning, and business development to the northeast region.
Steven arrives with almost 2 decades of sales and management experience in the construction industry. His resume is impressive; he has held leadership positions at CRH in Washington DC, Sika in Baltimore, and Boral in Atlanta, rising to positions of greater responsibility at each company. Steven exceeded his revenue goals every year, and in his last job managed a team with a quota target of $125M.
His approach to sales is strategic: “We need to provide value. Everyone is too busy for the old-school drop by. Respect for our customers’ time is key, and delivering for them in meaningful ways will build and solidify those relationships. I believe in consultative selling—truly understanding the customers’ needs and more than that, bringing something beyond the product to the table. Maybe we have a potential lead for them—a contractor that needs a new distributor or some other revenue generating referral.”
A native of Denmark, Steven attended the Copenhagen Business School and moved to the US in 2007 planning to work in the tech industry. The bubble burst, the economy slowed, and he landed a job in construction sales and fell in love with the industry. Steven continues: “The people in this industry are salt of the earth. Everyone is straightforward, and it has been a great fit for me. I was drawn to SIGMA for that same reason—the tenure of the workforce is a testimony to the quality of the organization and the culture. I want to be a part of it. I see a great opportunity to grow the market. I’m eager to roll up my sleeves, learn from my new teammates, think outside the box, and make a difference.”

In his spare time, Steven enjoys playing hockey—“when my knees let me”. He also has a workshop at his home where he does fine carpentry and woodworking, and can often be found camping and off-roading in West Virginia. He has a strong appreciation for good food and wine and is a willing, if not avid golfer: “If a customer wants to hit the links, I’ll tee it up without hesitation!”
